I got a call the other day from my long-time friend, Harry from Orange County, California and all he could say repeatedly was, “Manny Pacquio is the best fighter I’ve ever seen. Is he for real?” This is funny coming from Harry because I’ve known him to like basketball and competing in triathlons more than watching boxing and he’s not even 1% Filipino.

Now this is what I call ‘The PacMan effect.” People from all walks of life, Filipino or otherwise, coming together for at least a night to witness a truly great athlete do what he does best.

Harry is actually a very successful engineer and land speculator and a bonafide American born to middle eastern parents but even he made the long trip to Las Vegas specifically for the fight. He told me he drove out with his girlfriend from Orange County, spent $2,000 just for 6th row seats and simply LOVED IT! Harry added, “I go to Laker games all the time, watch the San Diego Chargers play at Qualcomm but this fight was the best money I’ve spent on sports in years!!!”

When asked about if the next fight were to be held in Vegas again and if he’s attend, he said “Most Definitely! You couldn’t stop me from going even if you wanted to!”
